I built a computer about a year ago, ordered mostly all parts off of newegg. I'm not sure on my specs, because I cant seem to find everything, and I don't really feel like looking, but if it's needed I will. I believe this is a problem with my power supply, but I could be wrong. I have a 750 W Rocketfish power supply. Running Dual SLI XFX 8600GTS video cards. Standard 500GB SATA hard drive, and an IDE DVD drive. 4GB Patriot Extreme RAM.

My problem is when I try to turn on the PC. It powers up, and turns off not too soon after. I can't get past the windows loading screen, it shuts off before it's done loading. If I try to turn it on a couple times, it shuts off before I even get to that point, sometimes seconds after I turn it on.

EDIT: When I turn my computer on, I get consecutive long beeps.

1. Have you checked the CPU cooler and make sure it is still attached firmly? A possible cause of this is your processor overheating and tripping the shut down.

2. If so...then I would pop out the CMOS battery and reset it.

3. Next I would take out a graphics card and try and start with one.

4. If that doesn't work...I would try other RAM. Maybe you have an extra set or can borrow some to see if it will post.

Going to try those right now. I hope its not a RAM problem, I don't have extra RAM, but I could always buy more. Not a problem.

I think the problem was with one of my video cards as well. I pulled one, and now its the first time I've been at the boot screen in months.

Memory AND video card? Wow... You have a power surge or something recently? Or possibly just a driver issue with the video cards..

Yeah, I'm not sure if I had a surge. I may have. Which sucks bad. But it's okay with me, really. I was so pissed I couldn't get it to work, I just never thought that it would be BOTH of those problems. I haven't had this computer work for about 8 months. I've been on a laptop for the longest time and that sucks so bad. Thanks for all your help. It's greatly appreciated.
