I've been running WD drives here for a llllllllongggg time over several years and never seen one fail yet. I used to hear the bulk of complaints on Maxtor until recently with Hitachi now Samsuang made the list according to you. I run two WD 500gb sata drives presently along with an older WD 250gb ide drive and am now looking at WD's new GP 1tb models out for a larger then 750gb storage drive.

How about a nice WD Cavier SE 500gb sata model for only $104.99? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136110

I agree with PCeye on this one, I have ran WD drives for as long as I can remember. I have never EVER had an issue with one. My friends always tell me they are crap however they are having issues with their Maxtors and Seagates.

Yet another samsung issue... As i have stated back in my tv thread which is still ongoing i'm beyond ever ever buying anything ever again with the name samsung on it. They have horrible customer service and horrible treatment if they replace it you are lucky but it never ever will be the same and more then likely they will replace it with a new(haha ya right its actually a repaired former messed up) piece of hardware.

I am with you guys on the WD Caviars. I use them almost religiously and have never had an issue with one, even my 6 year old 80gb ide drive is still running like a champioN!

plus what you are seeing is normal, every drive has errors, regardless of manufacturer. check out steven gibsons site for info on what is normal for your drive www.grc.com
