I am going to buy a new processor, but will it work with my mobo?

I want to get a core 2, which has a FSB speed of 1033.
My current mobo has a FSB speed of 800.
Will it work, or do they have to be the same speed?

I just did some researching, and answered my question, stupid me.
I will be upgrading my 3GHz Pentium 4 HT, and I don't know if I should get:

Intel Pentium E5200 Wolfdale 2.5GHz 2MB L2 Cache $82

or

Intel Core 2 Duo E4700 2.6GHz 2MB L2 Cache $135

I play games occasionally, but I mostly use my computer for media and photo editing. Is the core 2 worth the extra $53?

Before you go ahead and buy anything, are you sure that Core2 CPUs even work on your motherboard? Pentium4 is really old, chances are that so is the mobo and won't even take Core2 CPUs. What's the model of the mobo (CPU-Z will tell)?
