I Broke my Pc.

I took apart my pc and put it back together again (for fun) and now it has a slight hitch.

The Power comes on and the fans start spining (and the LEDs come on). But nothing apears on screen. I swapped the graphics card to make sure it wasn't that, but still nothing. I think it might be the Ram or Processor (and the fan on the proccesor was making a strange noise previously.)

Any help appreciated.

BTW, the pc is a p3 which my older brother put together from 2 older computers earlier this year. The ram is 256mb but i know some of the cards arn't compatable (Not sure which ones, but it's never been a problem).
 
Did you take the CPU out?

If so, you may have too reapply Thermal paste onto the CPU.

Pull all ram out again.

Put back in
 
Sounds like to me since it did work before, your motherboard may be touching the case somewere. Check that and see, also make sure the brass stand offs are in the right place

that and make sure all of your plugs are firmly inserted into their respective slot..
 
well, the computer now turns on and beeps (once) which im fairly sure it sure do. Nothing comes up on screen (and the moniter cable is firmly plugged in and i've tried it with two graphics cards).

How far can a pc get with no processor power. I just hope it needs a new processor. (not expensive to replace a p3).
 
I mean how far can the computer get (in the way of turning on) with no processor. I would say i hope it would be able to beep (but it would only do that with a processor.)
 
Its normal for a pc to beep once when you turn it on. But if it doesnt been anymore thats normally a good sign. The fact that it beeps shows that it is posting, and the fact that it is posting is normally a good sign that you cpu is not to blame. Answer the following.
1. Did you actually remove the cpu
2. Did you actually remove the mobo from the case
3. Are you sure that the video card is back in the slot. It will be agp so there is a little clip that shows you when you have it fully in (it may make a clicking noise to).
4. Does your montor light come on at all (it should still come on even in standby mode)
5. have you tried other ram configs. Try removing 1 of the sticks (assuming you have >1 sticks to begin with) and see if it works, repeat with all the other sticks and try all combinations
6. Have you made the necessary sacrifices to the PC god?
 
For questions 1-5 the awnser is yes.

For question 6, i have melted down a processor and drunk the metal but i havn't yet walked on a row of upside down motherboards (barefoot).

The processor fan was starting to die so i think the processor might just be dead.
As long as you don't think its the mobo.
