hello i have used dban to erase my operating system, and hard drive. Left now is a computer with a black screen that says put in bootable media. I have a toshiba satellite c855d-s5209.

I then proceeded to download kali linux 1.0 architecture i386 type iso direct download from my other computer. I then burnt image to 4.4 gb dvd rw.

When i put the dvd in my toshiba satellite c855d- s5209 , i go to boot it and it starts to boot, it then freezes on detecting network hardware .

Then i download backtrack 5 r3, and do the same thing; same results freezes halfway through.

I even try linux mint 15 , and it boots but has a black screen, but i can still move the pointing device.

Has dban screwed up my computer, i get a lot of driver errors also. thanks

dban will only erase your hard drive. Is it possible that the hard drive may be failing? You have the boot option set for cd/dvd first correct?

Yes i have removed boot manager, and i have set boot to cd/dvd. I finally got debian 7 to boot. Very strange that kali linux , and backtrack 5 wouldn't boot since i have both on a virtual machine, on my other computers. I know they both are not corrupt files, and the media is good since i booted debian 7; kali linux is built on debian also very strange.
