I Can't open email attachments.

Ive sent myself two documents from my friends computer in order that I can print them off from my computer when I get home. Now I am home I cant open them! I just get a message saying:

File Association:

I dont want to pay for MS works if I dont have to so can anyone recommend anything else to open the files?
 
No, it may be that .wps files are too proprietary and uncommon, so there haven't been any free alternatives to MSWKS. Have you tried AbiWord?
 
That's pretty much it in my vast 80 GB repository of freeware. You will probably be forced to open them in MSWKS and save as a different format. Unless someone else (Google?) knows another freeware alternative, I'm sorry, I can't help you.
 
save the file to your computer and change the file extension to, say, .doc or .rtf. To change the file extension, open up a file explorer window, select tools, folder options, view and deselect the box that states "hide extensions for known file types"

Then you simply change the name to filename.doc (to open it with word), or filename.rtf (to open with wordpad). don't know if that will work but that's what I would try.

EDIT: Actually, the software in teri's link should work. I'd try the word viewer first. I didn't know word viewer allows you to view works files, but apparently it does.

Free online converter. Convert WPS to whatever you need. Used it a lot in high school as they ran Word and we had Works at home before I understood you could change the file type when you clicked Save As if you wanted to lol :D
