I can't seem to overclock my CPU

Hello everyone,

I currently have an AMD FX 6100 unlocked Black Edition. It runs at 3.8ghz right now. I want to try and get it to about 4, maybe 4.2. But every time I overclock (with either AMD OverDrive or a program my motherboard has) it either blue screens, or doesn't keep the overclocking changes. Eg: I put it to about 4ghz it becomes unstable, so I'm like "Okay, I should restart my computer now" and whenever I check to see what it's running at: it's back to 3.8ghz. I don't really get why I can't overclock it, maybe you guys will know?

My Setup:
CPU: AMD FX 6100 Black Edition
Mobo: Asus M5A97 Pro
GPU: nVidia GTX 560
RAM: 8GB

Also on an unrelated note I get this screen whenever I boot up my computer.. what does it mean?

What do you mean stock cooler? If it means the one that came with the CPU then yes.

And how would I go about overclocking in the Bios?

If you are using the cooler which came with the CPU that's the beginning of your issues.

Okay, good to know. I thought it would be good enough seeing as it says 'Overclock ready' so.. xD I shall look at some fans now

Take a picture of your case opened. But the cooler can't be the issue btw, a stock cooler will cool enough to get the cpu below 100 in 4ghz!
You have to go in bios by pressing delete when the pc starts.

Here's the inside. I took it while I was building it so everything it plugged in and sorted out, don't worry! :)

You don't want to get AMD chips above 60c.

OP, buy a good cooler and install it. Be sure to clean the CPU's old thermal paste off with isopropyl alcohol. Then apple the new paste by placing a small dot in the middle of the CPU, about rice-size. Then use your cooler to spread it, ie place the cooler on top of the CPU with the paste on the CPU.

The reason you are bluescreening is because the CPU isn't getting enough voltage. Increase the voltage one step at a time until it doesn't blue screen. Repeat until you get a good balance of GHZ and voltage. I wouldn't go above 60c and 1.45v.
