That my MX440 64MB AGP performed better than my new 128MB FX5200...

And also that my MX400 32MB AGP performed better than another 128MB FX5200...

I took off the shaky fan from one of my FX's, and I noticed than I got laggy games, no artifacts, though, overheating?
 
Yes probably overheating. Either change the heatsinkfan assmebly or blow a fan onto the heatsink and see if it performs better.
 
Well If I created an game myself, I would get no to a bit of lag.... Long time ago with my Geforce2 it never lagged...
 
lol those two are the cards in my other computers LOL :D. Yea, the MX440 is a super card. But my FX 5500 is better.
 
iono i thought my xfx 5200 performed quite well , it was 256 mb though

... OK Now I can literally SWARE that my MX440 is TONS faster...

Intel Pentium 4 @ 1.43GHz (OC'd)
448MB PC100
80GB IDE WDC
FX5200 w/ 128MB AGP
ECS Elitegroup P4VXMS

PC 2:

Intel Pentium 3 700MHz
192MB RAM
Generic Slot1 Motherboard
GeForce4 MX440 64MB AGP

Why though??
 
The geforce 4 is not a bad card, but I don't really think it can overpower the fx5200. Although, I've read that the FX cards sucked those days. I had a FX5200 128MB it performed great...

I had both an fx5200 and a Mx440. The 5200 was definitely better.
 
It (could) be that since you have the P4 overclocked and its a ECS motherboard, it might not have a locked PCI/AGP bus and you have the PCI and AGP bus stressed out. 33/66 stock, AGP cards dont like the bus overclocked and running it at even 69 or 70 mhz can make the performance go down.

Ahh.... So I just underclock and see if I see an performance gain?

PS - My PC Wizard score has lowered from 1300 to 1000... When I upgraded from my GeForce2... and when I have my GF2 it was overclocked too...
 
You sure it running in X8 or atleast X4, theres a chance that it could be running in PCI mode. If it is you might need to update your chipset driver for the AGP port driver
 
hmm.. well just an moment ago it seemed to regain some better performance...

The drivers are all XP stock drivers, its an OLD motherboard, ECS Elitergroup P4VXMS
