I decided to go Intel suggestions please

Hey guys, I've been back and forth on parts and I keep getting your suggestions and so far they have been very helpful, As the title says, I have decided to switch to an intel build after doing some serious research.

This computer is going to be used primarily for high-end gaming, as well as recording (music) and possibly editing video (not often). I am going to be overclocking both the CPU and GPU (if needed) so keep that in mind.

Here are my parts:

Case
Motherboard
CPU
CPU cooler
RAM
GPU
PSU
HDD
SSD
Optical drive

Get a gigabyte ud3h z77. But I would wait for haswell. Also, get a Seagate barracuda.

Those Gigabyte boards have absolutely HORRIBLE feedback on newegg, I'm pretty worried that I'm going to get myself a dud, or have it break on me 2 days after i'd have a chance to return it

I have built 5 new desktop recently for close family including myself, 4 of them use gigabyte boards and mine has an asus, both asus & gigabyte are top quality and never had a problem, but i wish i had got a gigabyte board for mine, because the asus keeps popping up this annoying start up window everytime it starts, apparently a common issue and only way round is to delete via registry.

I would not buy any other motherboard brand now except gigabyte, also on a side note gigabyte seem to be far better at bringing out bios updates.

Keep in mind that when people review, they're more likely to complain in a review than leave good marks. I haven't written a review for any of my PC parts but I know for a fact that if they had any issues I would have. That's not to say to totally discredit reviews as they are definitely helpful. Just people are much more likely to write a review if there's something wrong rather than it works the way it should.

The Gigabyte boards are good.

That too. :D

Honestly good motherboard brands are generally Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, and AsRock. Some people will prefer companies over others but they're all pretty solid companies.

Barracudas are generally better then WD when you get to cheaper drives IMO. Also, I don't think I would call 4 stars average with 120 reviews horrible. In fact it has some pretty good reviews. Get MSI or Gigabyte, no Asus.

Yeah I'd agree but I'd stick to ASUS, Gigabyte and MSI and only go for ASRock if I absolutely had too. Though that being said, ASRock is better than say, Biostar. ;)

I'd agree with that. ASRock is probably the worst of those 4, still not really bad though.

*shudder*
...Biostar

Just to note: Asrock is a subsidiary of Asus. They basically just use the Asrock branding for their lower-end motherboards. I've never owned one, but from what I can tell, some are pretty good while others are mediocre, but it depends on the model.

Another WD vote. I prefer the Black series with a 5 year warrantee. I have personally seen a few bad seagate drives lately. I know happens with all brands.
