I.E. Load Time

Sirs, I noticed that it takes approximately 3 secs. after clicking the IE icon before the actual browser appears. I have a pretty decent set up so I don't understand why this happens. I have tried different PCs which have lower specs that load IE instantly. But when the browser's loaded, it works just fine...no lag or problems. My only concern is it takes a few secs before the application window pops up. What causes this? is this a hardware issue? (I hope not  ) What can I do to fix this? I have a win XP professional. Not sure about my IE version though. Won't be able to check it til later (still at work) :) Appreciate the help

My set up:

Pentium D 2.8
OS - Win XP Professional
Ram - Dual 512 PC 800 (1GB)
Mobo - Asus P5B

I see that often here where it will take a little longer then a few seconds to get IE 7 open and reach the home page. At other times the home page pops up in an instant. You don't have to worry about hardware unless you are having some sort of connection problem. Usually it's your ISP's own serves that are loaded with traffic or you have a small glitch being seen with IE itself. Firewalls, antivirus, and other programs installed there may also be having an effect. Take note on the differences in the softwares between the different systems to see what is running there differently.

It takes longer to open FireFox 2.0 here then IE 7! Plus the "dothemall" page wanted to install the latest Mozilla freeware causing a restart of that.

When both just opened now "another" IE 7 window opened faster then FireFox! There are always a variety of things that effect what opens which way. If your home page for IE is different from FireFox why do you think one would be faster then the other? With both set to the same home page you log on at different moments.

They aren't different :P.

Odd...

Most of the time they open in about the same amount of time so the slight if any difference is never paid any attention. The primary reason for 2.0 and Thunderbird being installed is more for having a backup browser if IE 7 is disabled for some reason. I used 2.0 more when previously running IE 6. With the new antiphishing filter you don't get the garbage that was seen with the older version.
