I feel like a n00b

Sorry for the completely noob post. I just got a VAIO for free from some kid, but I cant seem to..... well, find out how to change the computer name, right now its his name. Also, where is the place to edit stuff like, single clicking desktop icons, I want to double-click.

Its embarassing... havent done this in so long I dont know where it is. Thanks.

Also, is there a way to (restore?) get the computer back to deadstock without the original disk?

also, I don't think you can get it back to factory settings without the disk. You could put a Linix operating system on it or manually clean it out. You would need a Windows disk to wipe it clean though as far as I know.

If it has XP and the guy still has a restore point from way back when the computer was new you could use system restore to get close

Or if its a relativly new vaio, all their computers have the recovery info on the HD itself. Like mine didn't come with any discs, but I had the option to make one myself.

I think you need a disc to get the files off the hard drive.

To change the name, right click on my computer and click on "computer name".

Start, settings, control panel, folder options, it will say "click items as follows", press double click to open an item.
