OK well this kid gave me an ipod 20 gig i think its 2nd gen its the one with the 4 orange glowing buttins ontop... but its deffective if i got to teh apple store will they give me an ipod video since mine is broken?

I highly doubt they would. First you dont have the receipt. Second that is only a second gen. And if I remember correctly they only have black and white text. So why would Apple give you a better ipod for a broken crappy old version.
Although you might be able to repair it if its only a hard drive failer or the screen is cracked or something like that.

well my dad found a ipod mini at the park put it up on lost and found for 3 days no one claimed it so we took it to the ipod store ( it was broken as well) and tehy gave him a 4 gig nano with no receipt

No.. if you have a warranty on it, they will ship a box to your house, and then you will have to ship it back with the iPod in it, and you'll get a brand new one from them(same generation and model, don't expect any different) in about week, all for free. If not, you have to pay I think it's $40.. maybe $60, not sure, but either way, it's the same process and you will NOT get a new model.. you will get that exact model, just factory settings and new case/screen.

What store was this? If this is true, that's the store's fault, not Apple's.

Well it actually depends on whats wrong with it. Is it defective becuase it has been dropped or hit in some way? if there are any signs of a significant fall or some heavy physical damage on the ipod, they wont fix it at all because you damaged it.

But if it just doesnt work they might fix it up like someone said above or make you pay to get a video.

it was deffective by itself.. whenever the kidd at my school's ipods get really scrathed up they just connect it to a mac the it will say" do not disconnect" then the disconnect it it breks they take it to the store and get a new one... i'm not kidding everyone does it here... and since they dont make minis anymore they give them the closest thing which is a nano... heres the one i have u took a picture.

That doesn't look defective in any way.. I'd keep it.

As for the poster above you, I've dropped mine plenty of times and gotten a new one.. I don't see how you can truly **** it up unless you drop off the empire state building causing the thing to become a marshmellow. These things don't easy get physical damage. They ran it over with a car and there was no evidence it had been runover.

They dont make minis anymore? Anywho, That looks like its working, but what you could do is sell it on ebay and try and get enough money to buy a video.

P.S. I used to have that mouse, it never charged right, and jumped accross the screen. I returned it 5 days after having it. Very bad mouse, I hope your having better luck with yours.

ya on my table it BLOWS skips like ass... but at my friends house its AMAZING my dads getting me a mouse pad tomorrow. it charges just fine for me the charge lasts about 4 or 5 days.. then charge for 10 minutes and 3 more days... well im gonna go to the store and see if i can get a video.. if i cant this one will have to do..

Off topic: kobaj i see u like firefox lol ... too bad it uses like 32 megs of ram.. i still use it though.. way better now that i have 1 gig of ram

really? How does that work exactly? Why does it only break if you connect it to a mac?

its seup to work on windows... kinda like PAL vs NTSC they dont go together... so when you plug in a windows formatted ipod intoa mac its gonna configure itself to work with a mac n if you unplug it while it says " do not disconnect" it breaks...
