I forgot my windows password how do I log on???

Not the user accountsa password but when the computer starts up and theres a little dialog box with username and password and there's no option for a password hint or forgot password or anything.

help!!!! I Have to get onto my computer to get stuff off of it!!!

try "administrator" and no pass (if you don't have an admin pass)
 
I did that as you said just now and it said "unable to log you on because of an account restriction"

is there anything else i can do?
 
yeah that didnt work either. I am desperate!!!!!!!!!! last time i had this problem i just installed a new OS on it but that was only because i had nothing to lose.

I NEED HELP!!
 
In other words you want to bypass your login password:rolleyes: . Dont know if we can tell you how to do that or not! How do we know its your computer?

As we have no way of verifying the authors integrity, no you're not aloud to tell him how to do that.

Info on this is publicly available from external sources, a few hits to google should get you a long way. Unfortunately, none of the mebers hear are allowed to discuss bypassing or finding out your windows password due to our http://www.computerforum.com/52038-forum-rules.html

So there is no one at this forum that can help me at least salvage my files or anything I just have to throw the computer away?
 
Depending on your mobo, you have to hit F4 F12 F1 or F3 or something just try all of them. It should ask you if you want to go through windows on safemode, then go on the safemode account and delete the password on the one you forgot. Do this while its loading in the beginning.

We can tell you how to salvage your files... but you might want to see if the Administrators account has been left open first, thats not construed as hacking or anything, so is perfectly legit. As others may have said, when your PC is booting up, continuously hit F8 until you come to a boot up screen, select "Start Windows In Safe Mode" (or something along those lines) let it load up, type in "Administrator" for the username and leave the password blank, if it loads, then lucky you, if not, then start backing your files up.

Note to anyone else - any discussion of cracking or breaking existing users passwords on a windows installation is in breach of forum rules. Act accordingly.
