I had never used a case fan before.

I added a 80 mm case fan to my newly built PC and my CPU temp dropped degrees from 123 F to 113 F the motherboard dropped 15 degrees from 114 F to 89 F I was a little surprised by the amount of temp drop. I expected maybe a 5 to 7 degree drop at best. I had never used a case fan before.
This computer had a exhaust fan in back other than the P/S fan. The fan added is a input fan in the front of the PC.

You'd be surprised what a bit of airflow can do for a system Play around with different configurations (and sizes if possible), or try organizing the cables inside the case if you want - might get them a bit lower.

try flipping it around to try and get a negative flow, it should take out even more heat

I'm assuming you mean negative pressure, and how would that help?

I thought a positive pressure was better in a case than a negative pressure, as there is more surface area of air to disappate heat off the heatsink fins/etc. And yeah, airflow does alot for a case.

I usually like negative pressure, as air will be sucked into the case through front vents.

actually neutral pressure is the best for airflow. fans flowing inward normally placed at the bottom of the case, fans flowing outward at the top of the case (since cool air falls and warm air rises).

slightly positive is generally preferred though, since negative pressure sucks air into all spots on the case whereas positive pressure will concentrate the dust near the fan making it easier to clean. i use air filters that came with my case.
