I hate to ask for help... but I need it

Okay my idiot friend was convinced he could make my laptop run faster. Without thinking what he meant by that I let him go with it. I have a Samsung R580 with a Nvidia Geforce 310m. I play a lot of MMOs with it and now everything is messed up.

I discovered he actually managed to overclock my 310m. I immediately set things back to default as soon as I noticed hoping no damage would be caused but I think it is too late. Here is why I think so:

1) Computer feels way hotter than it used to
2) I get quick lag spikes every few steps in WoW, lotro, etc. Basically the screen freezes and I cant do anything for a second or so every 5-10 seconds. But it still says im running 30+ fps on maxish settings
3) Music (just music, not soundfx) in wow even skips like a CD... not sure why but that is new.

So, what happened? Did he fry my graphics card? Is a fan of mine maybe not kicking in when it should? I can hear it and feel it but I don't understand why my computer would feel so hot to the touch without there being a fan problem.

It feels hot in the following areas (even while not gaming) :

Left and right of the trac pad, and right of the left speaker above the keyboard.

Any help would be hot. I really don't want to build a new PC or buy a new laptop when this one is only a year and a half old.

First thing you want to do is just completely reset the BIOS. That should fix most of what he did....second, you should ask him what he did....

Kk i just texted him and he said he would send a detailed email of what he did lol. Also how do I reset BIOS... xD

Go into your bios and find the setting that says "set default values" or something similar. Hopefully you have that setting, most desktop pc's do.

It's a laptop. And I am not sure if I can even access BIOS and if I can I have no idea how. Would a clean install of windows 7 fix my problem?

Not at all. When the computer first turns on there should be a prompt at the logo screen for the settings or BIOS. If not, keep pressing delete or f2 as soon as you turn on the PC. that gets you to the BIOS. The BIOS is not effected by the OS or anything on the HDD.

I know you have a laptop, I was just saying that most desktop pc's have that option in the bios. In a desktop pc you can actually remove the cmos battery to reset the bios but in a laptop its harder to get to the cmos battery. I would wait until you got the email from him telling you what he did and then just copy and paste it back here and then we can tell you what to do from there.

Okay with F2 I managed to get into settings but nothing about resetting BIOs. I reset the settings to default and it didn't do anything xD
