i have a modem and an internet connection...

i barely understand your situation.
Do you have a pc with no screen or just have that modem and the net ?
you can't use a TV unless you had a desktop, and a tv connected to it via your graphics card..
did i get that right ?
 
ok... i have a modem, mouse, keyboard, internet connection, etc. - everything except for something to see everything with [the screen]... my question is what can i use for this?

thats what i asked you in my first post seems you missed it.
you will have to buy a Display device, no other way around it
 
why would you just not say 'ive got everything but a monitor, what can i use?' he fact that you have internet/keyboard/etc really makes no difference

You can boot it up and click random buttons until the computer freezes up. :rolleyes:

Just get a screen, a computer is useless if you can't see what it's doing.
 
If you have all the components except for the monitor, then yes you can hook it up to a TV if you have the correct cable. Although unless you use VGA/DVI/Component/HDMI, then it won't look good.
