I have a problem... not sure where it lies

So, recently, i noticed that the temperature of my computer components were a bit higher than it used to be, and after playing MW2 for 2 hours today, the game started to lag. So i opened up the case and did some cleaning. I didnt touch the MB with my hand, only the the plastic fan on the CPU and GPU.
When i try to turn the pc on, nothing happened. the fans and light turned on, but nothing, no peep sound. After checking that no wires were loose, i decided to remove 2 of the 4 sticks RAM. the comp turned on fine. I turned it off, put them back but the pc didnt turn on this time. I then tried with the other 2 sticks, and it worked fine. So im pretty sure the RAM themselves are working. Any idea? right now, im running on just 2 x 1GB.

i managed to run with all 4 sticks now, but that was after countless reboots and random errors during the startup. im guessing it has something to do with the BIOS and not the hardware. how do i reset the cmos? how would that affect my comp, data-wise? oh and, im dual botting XP and win 7.

You remove the cmos battery for a few minutes, making sure you unplug power from the power supply and push the power button on the front of the case a few times and then put the battery back in and boot up.

Check your motherboard manual. It should tell you where the CMOS button is. Press it, and it should be reset. Sounds to like possible overheating as well, or a screwed up OS, or even broken hard drive.

EDIT: Also what john said well work for resetting the cmos.

well, I think you should have another fan. or your computer case is so crowded that you might need a larger one in order to help your stuff to breath.
