I have a very annoying audio device/sound problem.

The problem is that they won't work.

Here's what happened. My computer caught a virus or something that blocked my internet connection. So I did whatever it is that makes it like your computer is brand new. Reinstalling the harddrive or something.



Anyway, now I realize that I have to reinstall the printer and the sound. I downloaded a driver for my printer and that works fine.

Then I downloaded a drive for the speakers which didn't work.





HELP ME. I NEED SOUND.

I'll assume you mean you downloaded a driver for your audio chip/card.

Are you using onboard audio? Or a PCI card like Soundblaster?

If you are using onboard audio, you need to go to the manufacturer of your motherboard, search by the model of your motherboard, and find the audio driver for that motherboard.

If you are using a PCI card, you need to go to the manufacturer of the card and find the driver for the specific model of card.

Install the driver, then reboot.

Check that you don't have your sound muted, and that the system volume is up.
Check the speakers have power (do they have a light on them?)
Check that the speakers are plugged into the right input jack. Try all the jacks.
