I have always used “Standby” and have had no issues.

Lately, it now restarts from “Standby”.

I ran superAntispyware, Malwarebytes, Avast, ect.. All scans come up clean.

Anyone have any ideas?

Have you jacked around with your BIOS settings (by accident or not) lately? Some computers aren't the happiest camper with S3 suspend mode, S1 is the standard for older machines.

My laptop is an old Dell Latitude D600

I checked the bios. There is no setting for allow to wake the computer - e.g.wake-on-lan, wake-on-mouse.

There is a lan setting but it is disabled

I also checked the control panel & power settings. Nothing there either.

This is a random issue. It happens about 50% of the time

Is it possible that your battery is running down? Standby is low power but some is still used. If the battery drains you'll have to cold boot.

Oh yeah, forgot about that. My laptop battery holds a charge for 30-50 minutes because it is so worn out, and sometimes I leave it in standby and forget about it and that happens.
