I looked into a Compaq Presario notebook with 1024MB DDR Ram, 80gig HDD, 128 Mobile Radeon 200 w/hypermemory, 15.4 inch widescreen with bright view and a bunch of other jazz. I needed it by christmas and when I went to order it they said it would be december 14th before it was built and with holiday shipping...might not be here in time. However, I went online a'searchin and I stumbled across a Similar computer with a 2.2 GHz Processor rather than a 2.4, a 100GB HDD at 4200 RPM rather than an 80HDD with a 5400 RPM. Same graphics and DDR. Do you think that the second computer would be able to handle games well? I really want a computer that runs games well but I have a feeling I might be stuck with this one that don't run games you know what I mean...HELP PLEASE :)

the 5400 would do better with games, likewise the faster processor would be a little better, but the main thing to look at would still probably be the gpu. You will probably be able to run games at similar levels with either, so if you have to have it before christmas then I would say the online one would work out alright.

SOMEONE RESPONDED...whoo...I was begining to think I offended someone or was being boycotted lol. Thanks for the reply...also...What kind of games do you think it could handle? Nothing like doom 3 probably but how about Age of Empires 3...stuff like that maybe...hopefully...

nobody ever replied to my first question, it was a pretty difficult one though and the post was long..anyways I don't game on my laptop, but it's integrated anyways (it was a backup for when my desktop acts up). I guess all I can tell you is try a game, play with the settings, and see what it can do and if that's acceptable for you. Typically any laptop that the maker installs a dedicated gpu in is better than integrated cause otherwise they would be spending more and producing a less valuable product, so the fact that it comes with a dedicated card is a good sign that you should be able to play some stuff. Look around online for reviews of it too, typically graphics are always a consideration.

most people only respond to simple questions...cause most people on this site have no idea...the second you have a difficult question (like every one i've had) no one says shit

btw, you can swap your gpu, but it requires a lot of work and some sauldering skills
I wouldn't suggest it unless you're damn good at fixing circuits, but some shops do it

Yay finally someone tells me what I've been wanting to here...I can swap out my Graphics...It is integrated but it can be done....YAY...Thanks guys
