Can someone please tell me something. I have been running my system for over a year running 1 gig of memory, recently I put in 2 more gig of memory now having a total of 3 gig and I have yet to see any difference. Whats going on? I go into system and it see's the 3 gig but I dont see nothing, its just as if I took the memory sticks and threw them out the window. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Calvin

What size RAM sticks do you have? Does your MoBo support dual channel? If so, are the sticks in the correct slots for dual channel?

Plus if you were not doing anything to eat up 1gb. Adding more of the same memory is not going to make much difference. Maybe turn down your page file some.

Is one stick a 1GB and onother a 2GB? If so you will only be using 2GB if you put them in the correct slots because the 1GB cannot compare to the 2GB so the 2GB stick comes down a grade and only uses 1GB of its RAM to equal out with the other stick. Always make your RAM even.

Now I,ve been building computers along time. Where did you come up with that?

Well I want to thank all that answered but there is much I have to learn and dont know where to start. First for Jay, my mother board is a Asus P4P800 or something like that I have no idea if its dual channel. It has 4 slots for memory, all 3 sticks are 1 gig each.

And to StrangeHold how do I turn down your page file some.
Thanks fellas.

I would recommend you get a 4th 1GB stick then, so you are running them in dual channel...or remove one of the chips currently and just run then like this.

Scooter, it worked, I took out number 2 stick and now with 2 gigs I can finally see a difference thank you so much. Man I have been pulling my hair out, I checked out CPUZ and installed it and it says I have dual channels.
Thanks again Scooter for all your help.
