I have decided to upgrade my Notebook´s memory but....

there is a problem:
I opened the notebook and wrote all the ram´s info on a paper:

256 m 1rx16
pc2-4200s-444-10-c1
nanya
dual channel, ddr II SDRAM

now I dont know what CAS Latency(CL) it has?
is it a problem? is it possible to buy a ram with CL3 or CL4 or CL5? will it work?
the main question is is CL very important?

and What is that "444" - "10"?

your computer will automatically adjust the RAM to run at whatever the slowest (highest) latency is. i would guess the 444-10 are your latencies and the c1 means thats per 1 cycle as opposed to 2

If I buy a ram with CL3 or CL4 or CL5 it will work or not? What do you mean?

basically, dont worry about matching the CAS latencies, the computer will adjust itself if the CAS latencies dont match. what you should be looking for is making sure it is DDR2, and making sure they are both the same speed (PC4200 or whatever), and making sure you have two sticks that are the same size (2x256)

btw a question about the speed:
my Data Bus Speed is 533 MHz does it mean that I have PC2-4200 ram?
Can I buy a ram with any speed(ddr2-400, ddr2-533, 667, 800)? will computer support it or there is a max speed level for each computer?
 
if your bus speed is 533 mhz i would stick with 533 mhz RAM, unless you plan to overclock, then it gets more complicated. so yes, 533mhz RAM is PC4200. if you buy RAM that is faster, your computer will still only run at 533, so it would be a waste of money
