I have three ati 4870's is there a way to improve fan performance?

I have a major problem with these cards as they are so close together in crossfire the fans dont actualy have enough air to pass through the cooling fans!! I fink this is a very bad design flaw as they are so close the heat just builds up between the cards. Is there a way of getting better performance from the fans or are they just gonna have to put up with the crowded conditions?

get riva tuner. bump up the fan speeds to your liking.

i have set it so that at idle temps (48 - 52*) its at 35%, so its dead quiet

but if it hits 55, it goes to 50% speed

if it hits 60*, its running at full speed

thats the only way. try get stronger case fans infront, and get a nice side fan too. to me, the fest case for SLI/Xfire is the HAF. you have the nice massive side fan, and good flow in front

i have fan speed control in catalyst but the problem is the cards are to close together the fans just end up stressing out due to the air flow being restricted. I was really just ranting as i cant see a solution to this!!
I have side and front fans but the cards are still not being cooled enough by them, i could do with a massive metal heatsink fan that fit all three cards together and blasted them with air, but that is not going to happen, i just want my ati fans to work!!

If the cards are simply too cramped with their stock design, the only real solution to make more room is get smaller, more efficient aftermarket coolers for them.

or to pull the middle one out....

maybe invest in 3 low profile heatsinks that are open in design then have a case fan blow air direct onto them feeding them fresh air through the side of the heatsink fins?

I could try getting smaller fans!! I think that they would probably work better, i think that the temps so far havnt gone above 80 so they should be fine. But I will definitely think about getting some smaller fans for the gpu's.
