I installed a video card

it worked and everything, but my computer has been crashing and giving me alot of trouble...I made other posts about it in other forums though.

I'm here because I'm wondering if I did anything wrong. This is what I did:

I didn't have to uninstall any card because it was an intergrated nvidia card(could that be a problem?). I just opened up the case, put in the card (in a brown AGP slot), plugged in the molex connector from the PSU, and put the case back on. Thats it, I turned on the computer and it worked for awhile, but then my computer starting shutting down by itself and stuff.

I made other posts about this, but this one is different because I'm not asking for a solution, I'm asking if I installed the video card correctly...and could an intergrated video card cause problems?

PS: Its not my PSU, I upgraded to a very good one.

I believe so, but I unistalled the card to give my computer a break so IT doesn't break, so I can't check atm :(.

I'm not sure if you mean try the video card on another computer or check someone else's card to see the set up. but the answer is no to both so it doesn't matter :D

I don't know anyone with a video card, and I don't know anyone with a non-crap PSU to test my video card on their computer.

well im sure you bought this kick ass card to play some games. which games are u playing and which processor u running??

ive just reread ur question.......so here ya go.....

yes, the card could be the problem, especially if it has a fan, because of the heat situation. as far as the integrated graphics (i think thats what ur talking about), if ur monitor is plugged into the vid card, no probs should occur. if they did, u would know b/c monitor wouldnt turn on/blurry/shaking screen. best thing to do if u can is exchange the card form where u bought it and install the new card and see if it still happens. but in general....yes, it can cause a problem and yes u installe dit correctly. and u did install the cd and drivers for the card right? :D

I bought it for Quake 4, due out oct 11th, but its also nice for counter-strike and battlefield 2...but pretty much for Quake 4.

Yeah, I installed the drivers and used the CD.

I guess I'll try getting a new card...it has a 1 year warrenty so it shouldn't be hard, so thanks for the suggestion. But if anyone has any other suggestions to try, please post them...I know for a fact it has SOMETHING to do with my video card because when I take it out the system runs fine.

and also, did u go to the website of the vid card to check for the latest drivers, not just the ones from the disk? can go to the website and see if they are available.
