I just want to know something

I am new here so I don't know if I posted this in the right place but I think I did. Anyways I just want to know something. I am running comodo personal firewall and Avg Antivirus. Are these two programs good for basic computing needs?

Thanks

AVG sure is.....its a good antivirus i was told (never use dit though...) although i hanv't use comodo. but if you don't do lots of downlaoding there shouldn't be much to worry about.

There are several firewall programs available where some get the good reviews while others don't. I'm behind 2 of them at present. AVG is more then an antivirus utility which it has repeatedly shown when blocking spybots and malwares attached to unknown incoming mail as well as flaggin the trojan downloader known as Generic: SUS where a site copied a browser hijacker onto the hard drive as soon as reaching the site during a web search. AVG pointed out just where the file was on the drive. Note that AVG was even disabled from starting along with Windows in the startup group of the msconfig utility and still flashed the alert there. Yet other things can still manage to get by. No one program can do it all. There's just too much floating around the web for one program to block and fix everything. Having a good firewall is only part of the protection any system actually needs.

AVG 7.1 is the free edition and can be downloaded at AVG Free Advisor: AVG Anti-Virus Free
