I lost my Asus cd,Help me,I need to intstall the sound completely,I have no sound!

Well hello! :)

I can't hear any sound on my computer, Windows says that it found a new hardware, but when I try to install the "Multimedia Audio Countroller" It wont complete the install, and I have no sound. :mad:

Audio information:
ADI AD1980 SoundMax 6-channel audio CODEC support for S/PDIFout interface. :D

That's all I know about my sound ("card?").


I have p4v8x-x Motherboard(Asus) system or something.

if anyone know what I gotta do to fix this, please help me, or if anyone could send me the Asus cd for that sound ("card?") please send me! :) because it worked good, when I had the cd.(Damn I should never have formated my computer whitout checking I had the cd).

You guys just think I'm gonna fix this whit finding my cd again, but I can't I've been whitout sound for 3 months! I'm desperate!!!!!!!

is this your motherboard?
then here are the drivers to download.
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=P4V8X-X

you might want to download them all, and burn them on a CD, so you have a backup ( in case they remove them from the site )

But I don't know what to do whit the file, it's on 0.5 mb, how can i install something from a rom file btw?

you have to click the Drivers tab first. then its the 2nd one counted from above.
(it says "SoundMAX Audio Driver version 5.12.01.3663 WHQL driver for Windows 98SE,ME,2000,XP" )

the ROM files, are bios updates, you dont need those :)

And i downlaod all the drivers, I'm so glad atm.. :D
