I love messing with my parents (pc related)

Well due to my odd sleeping pattern the last few days I've been up all night and most of the day and I'm getting bored. So my parents are in bed and I've decided to switch the order that our current pc boots. I will switch it to Floppy being first hehehe. My family is pc illeterate so along I'll come and save the computer and be mr.computer man in my immediate family. This will help my parents trust me more when it comes to computers. I get in trouble if they see me in BIOS or even program files... Not really in trouble but they yell at me to get out and act like I'm so stupid to have even got in there in the first place. Maybe this will show them I do have some knowledge about pc's, more than they think I do anyway.

Sorry guys, I'm trying my best not to make a bunch of pointless posts but I'm REALLY bored, there's nothing to do on this pc, I took all the games off, which in itself is a long story.

i used to be like that, but then i built my own system and it worked beautifully. so they were all like "oh ok, well, thats good isnt it". Then my dad got a few probs on his PC and it needed formatting/rebuilding from scratch. So i did that too, now im the main PC person and it rocks, i changed passwords on the router and everything so when my sister gets tooannoying i just block her from the network thus restricting her acess to the music server.... her luife revolves around that damn thing, sometimes i wish i hadnt actually made it. But yeh, no tracks are stored on her HDD, all run from the music server. Mwahaahaaha!!!!!!

And the fact that there is always a dead PC lying on the floor in bits give the atmosphere of a PC literate person..... i love it.

heh, yeh but im 17 and i find it fun, on average theres a 6 second delay before the song stops streaming to a blocked IP, he he he he...... so thats 6 seconds of peaceful bliss until she comes storming through the door with her fists of fury..... lmao...

I'd probably enjoy that, lol

Im already the PC guy around the house, i have been for years so there really isnt much point in me doing that.

I am now, even family friends call on me to help, they really dont have a clue, i get calls from them that are like "It doesnt turn on" im like ok... how about i come round in an hour and take a look......

yea im the main comp person in my family too. haha, didnt reli had to do much to earn the respect. they just saw me opening comps, troubleshootin w/e and they were like ok. ahha. but..... my mom still has doubts boout me. maybe that changed tho... iono. XD

o yea,,,,,, im 16, but i dont do that kinda stuff. get enough of that already in school. not reli to begin with cuz then u gotta waste ur time fixing the problem u caused. but if you actually have a goal in doing so, then yea. sure y not. lol

I am in my family to a certain extent. After that, its The_Astroman (we are close friends) because he knows much more than i do about computers.

Edit Button next time M0ddingMan

elmar, have you filled out a moderator application form? :P

Anyway, back on topic...

I was 14 when I became "Computer person of the house" :D I wanted to build a PC for christmas, after having enjoyed replacing the video card in my family's PC. My mum had alot of doubt in me, and was shocked when I actually had it working and everything... Since then, well, I'm Computer man lol

EDIT:

Off topic question lol:

In school, you know the ICT teachers have like those controlling programs, etc... Well, I managed to figure out how to overcome it :P I would press the windows key, then move the mouse on the taskbar and select "Show Desktop". Problem is, I've moved school and that shortcut doesn't work anymore. Anyone have any other ideas?

What? elmar was actually saying something helpful...

Yeah my mom didnt really care whne I built my computer. I just told her it was working and she said "I hope it doesnt burn the house down" in a nonemotional (SP) voice. Its kinda funny though, when she needs to buy something on the internet I go and find what she's looking for and she's just like "Wow you're really good with computers! You found that DVD player in less then 2 minutes!"... Then again she refuses to upgrade to SP2 or use the back buttons on the mouse for some reason so yeah... she's not the most computer litterate person.

Lol, my moms the same way. She is totaly computer illeturate. Shes taking a computer class though and getting better at it. She can use Word, go on the internet, and sinple stuff like that :)

I am the computer dude for my community. I do a ton of computer work for my church. I maintain there website, do slide shows, repairs, setup internets/parental controls for just about everybody in the church. I have probly spent at least 70 hours of work for other people, but it was worth it, i have gained lots of knowledge about computers

Let me get this straight, Your attempting to gain trust by lieng and manipulating your parents? [Sarcasim]Sounds like a good plan![/Sarcasim]

I try to keep all computers running smoothly in my house since my dad always asks what the problem is and tries to act like he knows what i'm saying and gets really pi**ed and says i'm being a smarta** just because I know more than he does. No fun at my house....
