I love messing with my parents (pc related)

My favorite is taking a screenshot of your desktop w/all the icons up, then set that as your background. Then right click deselect "show desktop items." Then they think all their icons are up, but when they click them nothing happens.

One time, because my computer teacher didn't like us playing games, we ALL took a screenshot of Solitaire and made it our background when the bell rang and then left. It was hilarious watching the teacher try to close solitaire on the computers!!!!!

That must have been hilarious!

I remember last year i put UT2k3 demo on my flash drive and i was playing it during class (comps are pretty crappy so it didnt look good), then when he noticed i was playing it he started controling my computer and blocked .exe's from running off external media :(

well im 13 and iv built my own computer from parts that my friends and family gave to me and it is complete junk its speks are

1 cd rom drive
1 cd burner (x8)
1 9 gig hdd os 98
1 2 gig hdd os 98
2 floppys
133 mhz prosser
mobo IBM
1995 mobo

now you know whwt i mean by junk

Better than 66MHz

IF it's a family computer, then really you SHOULD stay out of the BIOS even if you do know what you are doing. A family computer doesn't need to be tweaked or overclocked, just maintained. It needs to run stable without any possible risk of being exploited by someone who cannot guarantee it's full recovery (basically you). Not trying to be anal, but I mean if it's not yours than you can't complain.

Well I used to be the computer newb and had my dad do everything... now I've gotten much better and at least I know what I'm talking about... I can do some tweaking in the BIOS but not a lot... but, hey! At least I'm learning! Hardware is easy crap, just software I'm not very good at.

I once put the blue screen of death screensaver on my parents laptop during april fools day...Man you should have seen my dad, he knew bout the bsod cause we always got it when we had windows ME, so he was panicking alot. lol, then i told him it was a screensaver and he laughed.

edit: the screensaver was especially good because it wouldn't back out unless you hit escape twice..which really got my dad =)

Hahah, holy sh*t, i have to do that sometime!

I have been the computer guy around my house and community for a few years now. My parents come to me when they need help.

Ive just became some guy at school that like markets pc's and builds them. So far ive convinced two friends to go from a mid-ranged $1000 dollar comp to a high-end gaming machine for about $2000-2500. Also, I managed to build my friends dad his first pc..which got me $100 cash in about 5 hours of build + install time.

I convived my friend's dad not to pay a computer guy 250$ to reformat his Pc and to pay me 100$ instead LOL geesh who charged 150$ for a REFORMAT? Its the easiest thing ever to do. I did my some homework while waiting for the harddrive to format since it takes a while hahaha.

Dell was gonna charge my sister $275 to install wireless drivers on her notebook. She hung up lol.

Thats the reason why i havent called any customer service for about 6 years. For all electronics i have i often deal with the problem myself...except for pdas and all the small gadgets i have..(watches, etc.)

i have the file for the BSOD screenie, except its an application, so rename it "Internet Explorer" change its icon, then when they double click on it, it BSOD's and "restarts" and loads into a BSOD, over and over and over again, coolest thing is, it generates lifelike BSOD's, looks at your hardware and generates them, lol

Yea its all funny to change all the desktop icons to open up a internet explorer and have it say "You computer is infected with a virus, it is on your Hard drive and ram so there is no point in reformating" Haha, it gets that....not so smart people wiht computers:)

When I got my HP (in sig) bestbuy said that for one year they would come to our house and clean the dvd burner because something about every 10 disks that are burned it needs to be cleaned blah blah blah and then after that they would charge some huge amount of money to do it. They never came and cleaned it and its burned over 50 cds with no problems.
