I need a Mid Priced desktop.

I want to Build a desktop based off of The Intel i5-750 and Nvidia GTX260 (not sure which GTX260 model is best, please post)

But yeah, Please try to keep it around $500-$600. Excluding the monitor.

EDIT: 4GB DDR3 would be nice.
 
Can't be done on that budget, the i5 and 260 are $200 each. RAM is $100, and a decent mobo is $100 or so. What about HDD, Case, PSU and Windows?

you could go for an AMD based quadcore (athlon) and a Radeon 5770
 
With $500 -600, you can't get core i5 750 + GTX260

yeah... i looked up the prices right after i posted it...
 
^yup, your looking at a middle of the line amd system, id get the 945 though instead of the 440.

Intel is a waste of money at this price point. Anyone who tells you that AMD is of lesser quality or such is just an intel fanboy, same goes for anyone who says nvidia is superior to ATI products. At a low end price point of 500-600, the only way your going to build a decent system is with an AMD+ATI setup.
 
Anyone who is bland enough to say that one is superior to that other in any setup deserves to be shot... There are so many variables that at any given point the market could change to the point where one is, for a time, better than the other. So stop being an AMD + ATI fanboi.

At this current point in time, AMD+ATI is the way to go for the low end price sector. It has been this way for quite awhile actually, as intel and nvidia both have liked to put a premium on their products. Above $900-1000, intel is the way to go with a setup. And the only price point where nvidia has better price/performance at this point in time is when a GTX 460 can be included, or for high end systems that will be running dual cards as SLI on the GTX 4xx cards scales much better than crossfire.

Also, don't go and call me an AMD + ATI fanboy, take a look at my sig and see what i am currently running.

Agree on CPU. I actually don't look at intel CPU unless the budget enough for core i5 7XX

While for video card, apart from GTX 460, GTS 250 & 9800GT is actually quite good for their price point.

If you want intel + NVIDIA
Core i3 530 + EVGA P55V 120-LF-E651-TR + EVGA 512-P3-1140-TR GeForce GTS 250 512MB ($325 MIR $50)
However, it will not support DX11.

The GTX 460 doesnt really fit into this price point, the 9800gt is showing its age, but the GTS250 is still a decent card although i would go with a 5770 before a GTS250 at this point in time.
 
Hmm... Could someone post a system with similar performance to what I posted? (Similar to the i5-750, GTX260, and 4GB DDR3) using AMD-ATi?
If you feel like being helpful, post a dual-core system, and a quad-core system. I don't believe I'd ever play DX11 games, but it is always Nice to have the ability to play a DX11 Game if need be.

EDIT: I think low priced systems might be out of the picture, but please still try to keep it low priced when posting something.
