I need a new IP address. I use a hub

I live in a 2 family house, our landlord lives on the lower level and we live on the upper level. The main internet connection is downstairs and the cables run up here and we use a hub so we can split the connection between our two computers.

I want a new IP address, and have seen several methods online, but when talking to a friend about them they said the protocol would be different because I use a hub. Could someone point me in the right direction?

What do you need a new IP for? Are you talking about an internal or external ip? If you need a new internal IP (the one that gets assigned to your computer) you can go under Control Panel>>Network Connections, select the connection that goes through the hub, right click it and select repair. This will renew your ip address.

i thought it changed it my bad
You need to do ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew.

Note to the OP, changing your internet IP will not change your external IP, so if you are trying to change your IP so you can access forums for instance, that won't work.

Yup those two he mentioned will do the trick. Unless of course he has a static IP set which, he prob doesnt.
