well im building my first pc from nothing and i really need help to make sure this fan will fit i dont need to really worry about how big the fan itself is dont really care about noise at all just as long as it can keep it cold the mother board is a 750a SLI nforce mother board link to where i got it http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3930721&Sku=P450-9118 i dont care about the fan size cause i have a cooler master case and they are friggen huge the pcu im getting is Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Quad-Core Processor - OEM link is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115018 i just want it to keep it cool so it doesnt burn out and i mighttttt overclock it to 2.8GHz but im not sure anyway please help by getting me a very nice fan cheap so what i want is = FITS, KEEPS COOL, AND A LIL ON THE CHEAPER SIDE IF IT CAN BE HELPED---- please help

Your first problem right off is that the model board seen at the link there is a Socket AM2/AM2+ AMD board not a Socket 775 Intel board. So you will now need to decide on whether to simply pick out another board or go with an AMD model cpu that will run on the board seen at TigerDirect.

you are correct sir. im getting an amd processor now any processors that is as good as the one i was getting that is compatible with this mother board, here is the compatiblity list (postest at bottom) or do you think i should get a dif mother board to fit the cpu anyway, so recommend a cpu and cooling fan please ^^

p.s. if the link doesnt work this and your willing enough to just to the xfx main sight its a 7 series motherboard 750a sli anyway this is the new cpu i will probly get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103244 i just need a fan for the cpu now

You'll have to use the edit button or have a mod correct that for you but the link you tried to post is seen at http://www.xfxforce.com/en-us/produ...s/~/ecms.aspx/XFXCPUCompatibilityList-AMD.pdf

If you strictly want an Intel quad core cpu then you use the selector right there at TigerDirect to choose the Socket 775 catagory since that's the socket type required. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=1533

From there you can decide on which chipset the board will have as well as which make and model in that catagory. For plans to run two video cards if any you would choose a Radeon/AMD for Crossfire; a GeForce or nForce chipset for SLI(NVidia).

As far as an AMD model the Phenom 9600 is the one people have been ocing while the 9850 sees the fastest stock clock speed currently while being a 125w instead of 95w cpu like the 9600s or 9650s. In early 2009 AMD will be launching a newer line of Phenoms then seeing fastest stock speeds for the Socket AM2+ and AMD3 boards.

The Zalman 9700 runs a little higher then others while having come down in price quite a bit to see $53.99 at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118019

Artic Cooling has a new model out good for upto AM2+ boards for about $5 less seen at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186028

The thing to look at when going to choose any make or model is the compatibility first. You may spot a deal on one model but it simply may not go on being for a different socket type.

Well at least that is cleared up! :P sorry for the typo earlier!

The 9850 is a 2.5ghz model there. The fastest stock model however isn't the 9950 either but the 5600B business class cpu. http://products.amd.com/en-us/DesktopCPUDetail.aspx?id=461&f1=&f2=&f3=&f4=&f5=AM2%2b&f6=&f7=&f8=&f9=&f10=

The 9950 is the fastest Phenom stock clock, its been out for months. That link is to a Athlon X2 5600b. Its nothing but a Athlon 64 X2 5600, not a Phenom. The fastest Athlon X2 is the X2 6400 at 3.2. Right now the 9950 is the fastest clocked Phenom. Plus the Phenom 9600 is not a good overclocker, it has the TLB bug and I would not suggest anybody buying one.

Who gives you these replies! If its some kind of program generated answer, you need to update it, if its a friend you need to smack him up side the head! If its Google you need to look alittle longer.

Plus I dont want some three paragraph general noob response about what a B class processor is. I already know what it is.

so whats the best cpu i can get that ill be 100% compatible with my mother board

i know the AMD Phenom 9600 Agena 2.3GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 95W Quad-Core Processor is compatible with the mother board and is still pretty good but i want to get a very decent card that will be compatible and if there is a better card that isnt crazy expensive then i will

Well unless I am wrong the motherboard XFX nForce 750a can ONLY SUPPORT up to 95w CPUs

Which means you are stuck to the lower end phenoms. So I would get the 9600 Agena.
One problem though is it has the B2 revision so the TLB bug can happen on that chip.

The 95w B3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103288

As you can see is much more expensive but it has no TLB bug. You might want to try and find the chip else where.

Someone double check the motherboard though to be 100% sure.

Mwave is a good place. Have you already got the XFX board?

Plus (dont) get a 9600, its the old stepping with the TLB bug. Thats why they are so cheap.
