I need advice on Dell purchase.

I have a budget of roughly $1000.

I will be using it to surf the internet but more importantly Gaming.
Right now I'm looking on the Dell outlet for a,

Inspiron notebook
Intel core 2 duo 2.0 GHz
2 GB DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz
256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
160 GB SATA Hard Drive (7200RPM)

I've found Inspiron's with the same specs but they come with a (5400RPM) hard drive. I was told having a faster hard drive will make a big difference in gaming. I would appreciate any help or suggestions on my system choice and opinions on the Dell outlet. Thanks

A faster hard drive will help with loading times mostly. Once you're actually playing the game it won't make a whole lot of difference. I'm not sure how the higher speed translates into the hard drive's overall life span. Overall though that looks good, i would love to have that notebook.

just make sure its not a 1420, there have been a lot of returns on them, i hear the main boot screen is just the blue screen of death

Thanks for the input. I ended up ordering the XPS 1530 for a greater price but hopefully a better value in the end.
