i need help: dvi vs d-sub

I bought my little sister a computer recently and it only has dvi input and no d-sub and the lcd monitor i bought her has only d-sub. So for that im going to get a dvi to d-sub converter.

All i wanted to find out will it still be clear? and is it worth getting a lcd which has dvi. how much clearer is dvi compared to d-sub?

The way I understand it, the DVI helps transfer the video data faster to the monitor, has very little to do with clarity, that's mostly the monitor itself...
