Hey guys, first time poster here. As the title suggests, a friend is building a computer, and I just want to see what everyone thinks about his choices, are they good?..Is the something he should change? I want to learn about this stuff too so that when I have money I could build my own computer. If anyone could get back to me with any helpful information, I really appreciate it. BTW, he's on a $1000 USD budget..so yeah. ._. Thanks for reading.

Yes it will all work but I'm going to recommend a few things:

Firstly, I'd change the processor. Instead of spending money on the 3770K, I would spend less on the processor and get an i5 3570K will be just as good for gaming http://www.microcenter.com/product/388577/Core_i5_3570K_34GHz_LGA_1155_Processor.

With the money you save on the processor, get a better graphics card: GTX 670 or 7870 or 7950 would be good.

Might also want to get an ATX board, mATX is a pain for upgrading.

Might also want to get 1866MHz RAM if it's not much more expensive.

Ahhh okay okay, well thank you for the reply, I'll let him know right away.

N don't worry I'll credit you, I won't pretend like it was me lol. :)

i have the motherboard you listed the micro atx rog board. its a great board...if you go with it you will not be dissapointed. although it is limited to just 2 expansion slots after installing a graphincs card....

I assume you meant me, not Smile?

Yeah it's not much more than the 3570K, but for a gaming rig he'd be better off putting that extra money towards a better graphics card. That will have more of a difference in games than going from a 3570K to a 3770K would.

If he can afford to get both a 3770K and a better graphics card (670 or 7950 or something) then go for it.

Yea I meant you, 50 bucks to me is not a deal breaker on a gaming system, especially when it comes to a cpu, so id just get the 3770 and eat ramen for a week or two or something.
