The problem: My father had hooked up the fax machine. After that the printer was not properly working. So my father thought that doing a recovery process would make the printer work by recovering the original program for the printer. What had happened was that the computer had set everything to "default" without deleting any files. But the bad part was that nothing was working, I now have set the speakers, signal, MS word and excel ect up again. And now my WinZip program isnt working. I was wondering what I could do to set everytihng up without having the CD's for them; meaning I dont have a cd to set up the speakers so Im not sure how to get them to work. My dad thinks to use the 8 cd recovery cd's and that would make things better.. i differ, but im not sure what to do. can anyone help me?

i think you could reboot to the last good configuration, before he set up the fax. then everything should be fine. i am not shure how tho...

so it will put my MS programs back on? and set my speakers up? without losing my files? (by the way, thanks for your time)

speakers yes, if MS office or whatever you have was installed standard with your computer itll put it back on, as far as files, if your worried back them up.

yes i have very important documents that ive tried to attach to an e-mail but didnt work.. i do have a cd burner but dont know how to back files up

well all i mean is, burn your documents onto a cd if youre worried about losing them. Doing a SYSTEM recovery may remove your documents, so it is best to backup and save them elsewhere before recovering. But recovery is your only option if you want everything to function again. Keep the dad away from the computer! lol
