Hi guys,

I'm in my dorm room right now and i'm trying to hook up wireless internet (We were only given jacks:mad:). I have a Netgear WG624 V3 wireless router. I entered the IP numbers, did all the setup, named my network, and password protected it. I have VISTA and when I clicked on my wireless network in the connect to the network window I saw my network's name with full signal strength. When I clicked on the network to connect Windows said there was no response to the network. What setting(s) do I have wrong? and how do I fix it? I also have a LINKSYS BEFSR41 router (no wireless) that I want to avoid using if possible.

Wireless networks can be tricky. Since it never seemed to work, I'd suggest resetting it and starting over. Start off with it disconnected from the network. Get your computer setup on it and confirm everything communicates correctly over wireless. Once it's secured as you want and you know it still works, connect it to the network. If you have problems from this point, we have a better idea what's causing them...

If you got two routers i think it might not be worth using both. Use the netgear one and use a Modem (usually UK and other countries ISP's give you one for free) so that you can connect your modem to your router and from the router it can be wireless for your pc unless you want to connect a Cat-5 or any CAT Ethernet cable into a pc Ethernet PORT.

Windows Vista is different from using Windows XP. I have Xp at the minute well i have Vista Ultimate on one of my laptops but dont usually use it.
