i need help to reformat my hardrive

please could anyone hlep me to reformat my computer. After asking my password the comp freeze and there is only a blue screen. it's the same in safe mode, it asks for my password but after that nothing happen. my cd-drive doesn't seems to work so i cannot start with my cd back up. could anybody have a idea of how i could get the problem solve.
i have an external cd-drive, but it seems that my computer doesn't recognize it. may be i didn't install the driver.

What operating system are you running?
 
I'm expecting that your trying to put in the OS cd and reformatting from there and to do so your putting your cd in the external cd drive and trying to boot to a CD drive. Try going into your bios to see if your mobo will let you boot to a usb drive.
