I need to know if all these components will work together and work together well. Im new to building computers and i could really use your guys and girls help!

Those are compatible, but I think you can do better for the price. Definitely get a better PSU.

Im in michigan but i would probably get it from newegg.com. I have a thermaltake right now and it has been awesome. The only problem is that it isnt powerful enough for the new hardware i want to get so i need a new one. What are you running?
 
Mine's in my sig, an Antec Truepower New 550W

Thermaltake only has one decent line out right now, the Toughpowers. The rest are fairly low quality, sadly, and the TP's are more expensive than their competitors...thus, something other than a Toughpower. :/

Keep in mind, the PSU you picked is actually a ~750W model, despite claiming 850, and the Phenom II 955 overclocks to abut the same levels as the 965...there's virtually no difference in them. (And if you aren't OC'ing, just bump the multiplier up by 1 when you get it and leave it there...no strings attached. It'll run just fine. :good: )
 
I plan on running Crossfire or SLI in the future, whichever is better. What PSU would i need to support that and a 125w processor? Which one of the 2 is better, SLI or Crossfire? Ive always liked and have never had a problem with nvidia so im thinking i might go with that. This setup should run many games just fine, right?

It'd have to be crossfire on an AMD system, since Nvidia doesn't allow SLI on them.

I don't know what GPU you have now, but that processor and RAM should run most any game just fine, and the PSU and mobo will support two of nearly any graphics card. (the exception being uber high end ones that can hit ~300W)
 
Well, i would be buying that PSU you suggested because its cheaper and better than the one i had picked. Do you think that one would be sufficient? Also, what extra cooling would i need for the higher wattage and 2 videocards? I already know to keep wires put up and away to help with airflow. What else can be done? My case is a full size case so i have some space to work with.
 
Cooling usually isn't a problem unless there's just no airflow...most any half-decent case will be ok.

Since it's an AMD board, you'd want an AMD video card so you can crossfire. That power supply should be able to support two Radeon 6970's, which is the highest current single GPU card that AMD has. I wouldn't put two of the dual-GPU cards in, though. (5970/6990)
