I need help. Video is choppy, can't edit

I'm good with computers but no genius. I try working with Adobe Premiere Pro but even with the editing window set to 10% the video is choppy. I thought it was a video card issue so I upgraded. Still having issues. I defragmented. Someone told me it could be the sound card. I am working with a 10gb HD video (football game) that I have spliced at many points. There is no way to edit this video in this current condition. Can anyone help.

Windows 7

Asus EAH6850 1Gb 256bit Video Card (Upgrade)
Corsair TX650 Power Supply (Upgrade)

Do I need a better processor? Help

that should be more than powerful enough, have you tried reinstalling the program, helps sometimes if the program itself has fragmented somehow.
