Hey,
I am going to buy a desktop with these specs:

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor E7500 (2.93GHz, 1066FSB, 3MB)

Genuine Windows(R) 7 Home Premium 64bit Edition (English)

4GB (4X1GB) DDR2 800MHz SDRAM Memory

500GB SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive with Native Command Queuing

ATI Radeo(TM) HD 4350 512MB DDR2

now, i want this computer to do school work etc, but i also want it to play games like rail simulator, call of duty and GTA IV etc. The RAM at the moment is 4GB (4X1GB), but i have the choice for that or 4GB (2X2GB). Which one is better? if i get the 2X2GB, does that mean that if i want to later on, i can put more RAM in?

Cheers

I think you should look at the motherboard guide manual and see what's the maximum memory it suports.Maybe other one can give you a more "direct" and helpful answer.Sorry for my ortographic mistakes...i am romanian:)

Correct, it depends on the motherboard you choose.

If 4Gigs is the maximum the motherboard can use, then it doesn't matter.

If your motherboard takes more then 4Gigs of RAM, then I would get 2x2Gig sticks so you can add more later, as you suggested.
