I need help with my power supply

I want to move the power supply in my computer to a new case, but i checked the power supply and it looks to be custom made for the case. At close inspection the psu looks like it is screwed to some sort of housing that allows it to slot in and out, possitioning itself in the middle of the case rather than the top. Is it possible to screw this off, and fit the psu without this? Anyone with any experience with this sort of thing?

And, which side should the psu fan be facing, up towards the case top or down towards the mb/gfx card, etc....

If you built a new system, I wouldn't trust a $20 power supply. Get a good one, such as an Antec, Thermaltake, Corsair, Hipro, or PC Power and cooling. A decent 500 watt model should do depending on the parts you have.
