I lost my product key for microsoft office word I have microsoft works word processor which is working I send my documents and people cant open them they want word document what should I do is there somehow to convert my documents or get the microsoft office word working again

Same as rtuss, try Openoffice which you can get for free. Just always make sure you save in .doc format otherwise they'll be in the default .sxw format which your friends probably won't be able to read too.

And have you tried calling Microsoft about your product key? It seems a waste since you paid for the product :(

I'm not sure if I can save them with the doc.extension I think it automaticaly saves them with wps.extension I did not pay for it they gave me a 60 day trial of office which I did not use yet hope the openoffice will work thanks guys

I dont think you can save it as a .doc in Works, but you can save it as a .doc in OpenOffice.Org.

o man its big I'm downloading it right now.what should I do with my office keepit or just remove it its no workink anyway I can get another product key for it for another 60 days I think my question is microsoft office word will still be working after 60 days?

If it's not working, you should just remove it. Hogs hundreds of megabytes if you're not planning to buy the product key anyway. And if it's just the usual word processing, anything MSOffice can do, OpenOffice can ;)

I've never used Microsoft works so I don't know if this format is supported, but try saving it in .rtf (rich text format). rtf is sure to open in a variety of word processors. You can save in .rtf in OpenOffice too.

before I start downloading openoffice they ask me about my operating sistem windows with bundled JRE or without JRE what that supose to mean?

JRE means Java Runtime Environment. JRE is used in a variety of applications, but not all applications need Java. I usually only install Java when I need it (i.e. the page I'm viewing requires Java). Installing JRE in OpenOffice is optional.

You should try reading the instructions on installing and setting up OOffice from the official site:

http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/instructions.html

ok youtin, I have JRE on my pc should I download the version for windows with JRE I mean does it make any difference or its the same thing

Quote from the official OpenOffice Website:

The minimum JDK/JRE version required to use OpenOffice.org features that require java is JDK/JRE version 1.3.1.

So if you've got ate least JRE version 1.3.1 you don't really need to download the version for windows with JRE.

If ever you need the later version of java you can always download it for free from the official site http://java.com/en/

Good luck in setting up OpenOffice!:)
