I Need Help With Vista

I need to disable the configuration that requests Vista to automatically
search online for device drivers. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Go into Control Panel>security and look for the automatic updating option's settings button for turning off the automatic downloads of updates. This isn't normally advised for the inexperienced user who will simply forget to go to the MS update site for manually selecting which updates to see installed however.

When right clicking on an item in the Device Manager you have the option there when choosing the update driver to simply browse a software disk for drivers there or in a folder where an update was unpacked.
 
Right click Computer -> click Properties -> Advanced System Settings -> Hardware tab -> Windows Update Driver Settings -> Click "Never check for drivers when I connect a device."
