I need help

I thought I knew a reasonable amount about computers but In looking for a new one, I just don't know who to believe about what line of computers and such is best. I am looking for a laptop primarily for multimedia uses, watching a lot of videos and juggling allot of windows and such. I just want a fast, reliable pc with good video and sound that isn't going to cause me problems and can handle my somewhat modest needs....I dont really do much intense gaming but would like the option for some modest use. I would be willing to spend up to around 1200$, I was thinking about a dell xps 16 but have heard mixed reviews...I hear toshiba is pretty good these days as well....I dont know, even just some advice about what companies you like would be much appreciated.

I have a dell studio 15 specs are right below. I absolutely love this laptop. The only other brand i'd get is an apple macbook pro, I know it's a huge difference, I just always wanted a macbook for some unknown reason...
