ok so i custom built my computer a while back.

msi mobo nvidia chipset.
nvidia 8600GT V-card.
2GB ddr2 ram.
intel core 2 duo
and other poinless to mentions.
i have run EVERY OS there is on this computer but settled for Win 7 few months ago. well i left one day came home and my computer was off?? i had left it on before leaving.

when i turned it on it booted up fine. got to my desktop then shut off instantly like overheating. then kept doing the same shutting off instantly for no reason. i re mounted the heatsink new fan just to be sure it wasnt overheating. still shut off for no reason. then i thought hmmm maybe OS is messed up. whiped one HD then tried to install win 7 again. get mostly through it and it shuts off again. i cant figure out why i ahve tested over component. ram CPU PS HD everything it will stay on all day if i just sit in the bion setup menu but when i try and use it EX. install OS boot OS it will shut off randomly at diff points each time sometimes it will take 10 min sometimes 1 min others 7 min its completely random.....

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

its an old stock one from an HP but i been using it for quite awile with no problems also i have a PS tester wich i used to test it and it checks out fully functional

all power connections test fully functional i bought this tester becasue i though it was my PS after re doing the heatsink and still nothing lol im soooooooooo confused!!!!!!! i miss my desktop :(

What about removing any hardware not needed to see if maybe there is a hardware failure? Have you looked in the event viewer to see if there are any entries describing the problem? Could be bad motherboard.

hmm....i may be a Mobo issue...if yu had an xtra Mobo, you could try all the parts in it...to make shure it is/isnt Mobo... jut my $.02 :)
Srry...for th grammar, posting from phone.

i have tested all the parts and they work fine. the computer works boots up and everyting begines the installation just shuts off randomly during installation

if i didnt mention it. i can leave the computer on the bios screen or on the first screen of OS install for hours and it not turn off. it only seems to turn off when info is being pushed through the system {EX.} installing OS booting OS

If you had an extra Mobo, you could test all the parts in that... Just my $.02 :)
MAY be a bad Motherboard.
