hello everybody i had a quick question that i could use some advice on.Im trying to play diablo 3,but im experiencing alot of lag and slowed down fights.I'm thinking this is due to my old cpu. im currently running a amd phenom quad-core 2.20 GHz. I was thinking about upgrading to a AMD Athlon II X3 445 but worried since its no quad if id lose performance anywhere.....any tips would be great,as im not really knowledgeable in this area. Thanks in advance!

I don't believe they even make those anymore, I wouldn't recommend it as it's not much of an upgrade. I'd look at higher clocked quad cores.

they get pretty pricey dont they? i was kind of looking on a budget :(. At the same time i know i need to upgrade.

What budget? What is your current motherboard? $320 is good for a nice big upgrade that will last you the next 4 years, and more.

my mobo is an asus-M3N72-D yeh i wish i had 320$ bucks to spend :( but im on unemployment i was also checking out a amd phenom2-x4 965
EDIT: on the asus support site for supported cpu's for my motherboard its saying i need a pcb of 1.01G,to be honest i have no clue what the heck that is.

Go with the 955, pretty much the same cpu anyways.

What is your graphics card? And i looked and that cpu seems to be within the minimum requirements, so you should be good for now (although diablo appears to only use 2 cores).

If that's the case why are you upgrading? A 2.2GHz quad core is still a great processor.

Thats the Revision of the motherboard. It should be near where the model number is or somewhere on a corner.

Supported under all boards...for 60 bucks, i dont think your losing anything with this, the 955s are a little faster, but i think with the board being a drop in support for that chip, which ive tried at times...and had issues with such, id go with the lowest wattage chip you can for a upgrade, probably can even use the old heatsink you have as long as your not overclocking as its a 95W chip, just pick up some thermal grease, 955s go for about 100 bucks on the bay, and cost about 125 on newegg...for about half the cost for most of the performance...id just grab the 630, and if your keen with overclocking, grab a heatsink fan, and you can probably easily get 10 percent clock on it, maybe more if your willing to push things.

with that chip you linked i could drop it in and be good to go? and is it really a big upgrade from what im using? cuz i get really bad fps drops in diablo 3 when there is alot of crap on the screen, and i really dont think its my gfx card,im running a nvida 550ti

I would suggest investing in the AMD FX range which come in 4, 6 and 8 cores. I have the 4100 CPU and this comes stock at 3.6Ghz and can easily be overclocked to 4.0GHz with stock cooling :)
