Hello computer genius guys...
I want to upgrade my computer in the near future for the following reasons:
-I'd like to take the next step in my elder scrolls addiction with Skyrim
-I'd like to play Battlefield 3 when it comes out, but this time on the pc instead of on my consoles

So i feel my system is slacking for those goals, and im a total hardware disaster...so yeah...
My budget is quite limited and neither can i give you guys a number to play with...

These are my current system specs, please tell me what i should upgrade, and with what exact piece of hardware i should upgrade it, for a somewhat good performance on these games... Thanks in advance!

Operating System
MS Windows XP Professional 32-bit SP3, but im upgrading to windows 7 ultimate 64 bit soon.
CPU
Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 @ 2.80GHz 47 °C
Wolfdale 45nm Technology
RAM
4,00 GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 399MHz (5-5-5-18)
Motherboard
ASUSTeK Computer INC. P5Q SE (LGA775) 52 °C
Graphics
Philips 220SW (1680x1050@60Hz)
1024MB GeForce 9600 GT (ASUStek Computer Inc) 45 °C

MagicISO Virtual DVD-ROM0000
Audio
Realtek High Definition Audio

PS: excuse my slacking english.
PS:im from holland if that matters in any way

Well as i mentioned im not very informed if it comes to computer hardware...
But a friend told me to go for AMD...
And sorry, no i can't give a real price range for you to play with...
But if i have to say something...
I think about 200 euros (if that isnt enough, i could spent a bit more) to upgrade my processor, graphics card and maybe some more RAM ( I think those are the most slacking parts, but you can know better)..

200 euros won't get a whole upgrade. I would recommend saving more money, AMD's new chips will come out in about 2-3 months, so that should give you some time. In the meantime, do lots of research on other parts. Motherboards, RAM, GPU's etc. Look up reviews. 990FX motherboards, GTX 500 series cards, Radeon 6000 series and so on. Solid state drives are nice and fast as well :)

Alright mate, thanks for the help....
Though it would be nice to have an idea of how much it will cost me to upgrade my computer to have decent to good performance for the upcomming games.....
If you can give me some kind of number that would be cool...

Its ok for me to wait....i know prices drop fast in the computerparts wonderworld, and i can easily drive my current games with this system on high performance... I just want to upgrade it near october-ish when bf3 releases..

Thanks alot mate, i will take a look at it...

Edit: I will post the final setup in this thread if your interested..
This might take a week or two... i have alot of research to do...

Hello Linkin and other people from computerforum.com...

Ive learned a bit more about computer hardware :p about time huh....

Anyways ive been looking around for parts....

Mainly for a new CPU and GPU, and since my operating system has been upgraded to Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit, i'd like to add some sticks of RAM aswell....

Currently i have 4 slots in my pc (omg i opened my beloved black box that is my comuter for the first time), with 2 of them filled with 4g total (this windows supports amounts of memory from 3.5g to somewhere near infinite i believe, so thats a 0.5g upgrade alrdy)..

But i want some more RAM just in case (and im that dude that likes to run 7 games at a time)...
You linked a set of two RAM sticks, wich look good to me..
Will those run all together if i put them in the 2 slots i have free right now? (makes 12g ram, maybe a bit much).

Then youve linked a very nice GPU aswell, wich seems a bit expensive but will have a good lifespan in my case (worth it i guess), im not entirely sure if this is what i should buy, since if come across some lower tier GeForces aswell...

And then the AMD cpu, as far as ive seen the intel core Cpu quad cores seem to be more expensive and less suited to me then AMD, is this true? or am i comparing crisis9999(5D ofc)-suited parts with something just able to run tetris?..

Then the bigger concerns.....

1-
If id upgrade my cpu with that AMD, can my system/power supply/cooling blah blah run it and prevent it from melting thrue my Mobo? (or some other world destroying apocalypse)

2-Is this total overkill? -> is this way out of my system's league, so that its just dumb to upgrade like this, instead of upgrading (maybe more performance-efficient) parts?

PS: again my english is slacking...sorry...its late

PSS: IS 3D OVERRATED?!

-Anmius, the superthankfull computerhardwarernoob ><... already thanks in advance..
-Budget might raise over time :P and maybe prices might drop before D-day --> october 25th 2011.
