I need to understand this

A few days ago i was searching for photos of myself that were stored on my boyfriends computer, so that i could post them onto a site. I couldnt locate the folder they were in so i did a search through the start menu for photos only. After 20,000+ pictures, i seemed to have come across so disturbing pictures. That kinda raised a red flag. When i questioned him about it. he said they were stored in his temp internet files. and were attached to a download from limewire. Understandable. Files were deleted. So i thought. This morning still not able to get this suggestion of maybe he is like this out of my head. I felt the nagging need to search a little further. Just so i can make sure and have piece of mind. Understand that I am just not snooping I dont care what he does on the computer it a computer not a human. But what I saw its morally wrong and if found out carries a heafty jail time and extreme disgrace, not only that but a person i would never associate myself with. I found hidden folders containing the same things i saw before. LOCKED PASSWORD ENCODED FILES. I confronted him again. He stated to me that when he deleted the files he found them in random spots. so they could be anywhere. again understandable. but behind a locked password protect folder ? They carry different dates. Before my time... but still this is WRONG. I can believe that files come attached to DLed programs on the internet. But wouldnt those "files" be saved in the same folder as what you downloaded and saved them too? would they default to a locked folder, even though the files in that folder are all disturbing and not what was downloaded? Im trying to understand and give it the benifit of the doubt "maybe his story is true" but something deep inside me is telling me not too. Espicially since i found the same plus more behind a "locked vault" PLease help me understand this more

Isn't true, the fact that they are passworded and they didn't appear before means he got them recently, and if my thoughts of what they are is right, you'll be better leaving him now before the law or his isp starts noticing what kind of content he's downloading and puts him in jail.

Yeah....bad bad news...

He put a password on thse things intentionally to keep prying eyes away. It would be in your best interest as mentioned before to get out of that situation and get the law involved. I dont know for sure but i believe its a crime to know something lik that is going on and not reporting it. So be careful.
