I am about to have my Gen 5 ship with a ATI X850XT Platinum Edition video card. I noticed on Dell's website that they are now installing Nvidia GeForce 7800GTX cards in the Gen 5. Should I cancel and reorder my computer with the Nvidia? I plan on using my computer for casual gaming, video editing, internet surfing. Would I even notice a major difference between the two cards? I mean, in 6 months, the 7800GTX is even going to be unseated as top dog. What are your thoughts?
the 7800GTX out performs the x850XT by a fair bit in the comparisons, so if its the same price i would go for it. but seeing as you said your a casual gamer, what do actual;y mean by that? what sort of games do you play, or will play?
I don't have any yet as I only have a work PC. I would expect I would like some RPG or war games. I am really GREEN to games. I will also use the computer to edit digital pictures from my Nikon D70 DSLR.
thern i would go for the X850XT. although it doesnt out perform the 7800GTX, it would most be most suited to the type of games you play. the 7800GTX is for the total FPS kind of gamers, who play on full resolution and full AA.
FPS = frames per second (it is the ammount of pictures the video card produces per second)
AA = antistrophic Aliassing. it makes the image showed ingame even more realistic
(smoothening textures )
