Hi i am new to thisnfourm and i am dumb when it comes to a computer.
I have a gateway laptop & it has gone carzy.
I had a picture on my screen of my G Son well now when i turn on my computer it has a big square that says i need to buy this spyware that my computer has a viruse and i can not remove it and it will start scanning and showing where i am infected.I have tryed to reboot back to when my computer was working but i can't.It will shut down on me every time i try to go into a program and i now can't get on the internet,Will someone please help me.But go slow i don't know much about a computer. Thanks Jeanette

Usually, virus programs promote their company name somewhere. Is that shown on the screen anywhere?

When the program opens, you could try to press and hold the ALT key, then press the F4 key. It's a key combination used to close programs (ALT+F4).

If that doesn't work, please post back and we can try something else. If it does work, I'm sure we'll be able to get the program uninstalled from your computer and prevent these issues happening further.

Hope this helps :)

What kinda virus/malware protection do you have? I suggest you get Spyware Terminator and scan your computer, see if it removes anything. If you have no anti-virus, get Avira AntiVir or AVG 8 and scan your computer for viruses - it sounds like it's infected pretty bad.

I have AVG 8 installed on all of my PC's. I would have suggested this course of action, but they said whenever they tried to login or open a program, another program opened and stopped them. I can see it doing the same here. Might need to make a fresh installation of your operating system (I would suggest an external backup, but from your post, I don't think you know that much about how computers work).

Is it the Windows XP AntiVirus 2008 program? That's what attacked my other computer.
It hijacks your wallpaper and puts its own there, automatically starts scanning every time you turn on your computer, will inhibit your abilities to go anywhere on the internet, and if you try and download anything it will say the "file is corrupted" (i tried to download anti-maleware programs). Then every time I tried to go on a web page it would redirect me to another "spam" page.

Download Malwarebytes anti-malware. Since you cant get on the internet, your going to have to get a flash drive and install it off of someone elses computer then pull the program off the flash drive onto your infected computer. Then simply run the program and it should clear up your problem.

I was having a hell of a time trying to get that stupid Windows XP Antivirus off my computer. The malwarebytes anti-malware was the only program, out of the total 3 that I tried, that was able to get rid of it. Took about 5 min. once I had the program installed.

Hope i helped =)

Thanks for that information. I'm sure it will be valuable to others in the future too. It seems this isn't particulalrly common, as I cannot find anything much about it on the web. Thanks for the contributions.
